What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a stand-alone holistic bodywork therapy, originates in Japan and it is influenced by Chinese and Western knowledge, It started to be recognised in the West in the middle of 20th century.
It is based on similar principles to acupuncture, just the practitioner uses his/her hands rather than needles.
Shiatsu stimulates the body’s natural healing by applying gentle pressure to points and other various techniques (e.g. pressing with palms, gentle holding, stretches, dynamic rotations) across the body and results in the deep relaxation, promotes wellbeing, supports good health and prevents illness.
What Shiatsu can help with:
problems with muscles or joints
problems with body structure such as back pain or posture
relaxation and relief of tension or stress
low energy or fatigue
problems with digestion, breathing or blood pressure
emotional tension and stress
